Entry Door FAQ’s: All you need to know.

When selecting an entry door for your home, you may have many common questions. Here are the answers!

1. Can Entry Doors Swing Out?

Yes, entry doors all have the ability to swing outwards. These are otherwise know out “out-swing doors”. The method includes building the doors with tamper proof hinges (as they will now rest on the exterior. At Interlink, we do dot upcharge for this feature whereas, may of competitors do. 

2. Are Entry Doors Fire Rated?

Yes, they can be. However, standard entry doors do not come with the fire rated designation. Fire rated doors are usually required when partitioning areas of a multiplex (entry doors for the respective unit), or if the doors proximity is very close to your neighbours property.

3. How Much Are Entry Doors? (costs)

Entry doors come in all sizes, colours, and styles and the price will vary accordingly. The starting price for a Canadian Made single entry door supplied and installed is $2350+HST with Interlink. Things like sidelights, transoms, double doors, or 8foot+ doors will affect the price.  

4. What Are Entry Doors? Entry vs Interior Doors.

This seems straight forward enough. However, there is a clear distinction between entry doors and interior grade doors. Entry Doors are made of steel, fiberglass or aluminum. They also have tempered and insulated double/triple pane glass. 

Interior doors are usually made of MDF, are hollow core and are not intended to be used for exterior exits. Although, you’d be surprised how often they are. 

5. How Long Do Entry Doors Last?

The typical lifespan of an entry door when maintained is 25 – 30 year. This can vary based on the location of the door, excessive wear and tear, and the quality of the installation.
